 Chapter 11

"You requested for my presence urgently this morning, I hope all is well Nnenna?" Omenigbo asked his wife as he sat down on his throne early that morning.

Nnenna already sited was wriggling her fingers as Omenigbo gave her his full attention.

His wife had informed the chief guard to call the Grand King that she has an important discussion she wanted to discuss with her him.

"How can all be well Omenigbo when You're suffering me knowingly". Nnenna began as she burst into fake fresh tears.

Startled by her behavior Omenigbo had to refreshed his memory to see if he had wronged his queen in any way in the past.

After a while Omenigbo heaved out a sigh.

"Suffering you Nnenna? How? I don't understand your statement, how can I be suffering the Queen of the whole kingdoms knowingly. Tell me my mistake so that I can apologize and please stop crying". Omenigbo said finally as he couldn't fathom his mistakes.

Cleaning her teary eyes, Nnenna gave out a little smiled at her husband.

"My King, isn't it time you make my son, the first son of this great family, Ebubedike, the crown Prince of the whole village?" Nnenna finally spoke her worries.

"Is that all?" Omenigbo asked sheepishly.

"Yes, it will so gladly my heart if you name my son the next King after you". Nnenna answered.

"Nnenna, you do know we have customs and traditions that we all must abide to. And as the Grand King, I must lead my people by following the customs and traditions". Omenigbo explained to her.

"I know that my king and that is why I implore you to forget about this said traditions and make Ebubedike the crown Prince, please my king". Nnenna pleaded.

"You want me to commit an abominable act for your selfish desire. Nnenna, you know I have two healthy and handsome sons, Obinnze and Ebubedike, so what you asked for is impossible". Omenigbo told her.

"But Ebubedike is your first son, why is it so difficult for you that you can not crown him the heir to this throne?" Nnenna demanded as she stare furiously at Omenigbo.

"Nnenna you talk as if you're a stranger here. Even if I only have Ebubedike, he must surely undergo the test of the Kings. I ascended this throne not because I am the only son of my father but because I was able to pass the tests the Kings set for me. Ebubedike and Obinnze would have to go through it, whosoever that emerged as the winner shall become the Grand King of all villages. So you see my dear, there are customs and traditions which all Kings must follow if one wants to become the Grand King". Omenigbo explained fully to his wife.

Getting up to her feet in anger. "Ebubedike is your first son and first son's sit on the throne". Nnenna blasted.

"Nnenna you have forgotten something here, this throne is not anyhow throne, so watch your mouth. I have said my own. If you're so worried about your son becoming the Grand King then you'd better start preparing him now, for the forthcoming test of the Kings". Omenigbo told Nnenna, he wasn't angry at Nnenna's behavior she was displaying before him.

"Obinnze had left this palace two years ago without any trace of his whereabouts. What if Obinnze had died in his stupid unknown journey he made, my son will be waiting for him before he will participate in the tests of the Kings, is that it?" Nnenna questioned.

"Stop making assumption Nnenna. He stayed on his own for good 15 years and didn't die why will he die now? Nnenna, OlaUdo's festival is coming and I don't want disturbance"

Without saying a word Nnenna hissed and left his presence.

"I did not lie, Obinnze spent 15 years outside the Kingdoms and didn't die why will he die now he has gone for another two years?" Omenigbo spoke asking no one in particular.

 ***

Ebubedike was stepping out from his hut when he saw his mother walking briskly towards him. The look on his mother face told him her discussion with his father didn't go down well.

"I want some privacy with my mother". Ebubedike told his three hefty bodyguards as they quickly went to stand at the other edge of his hut.

"How was your discussion with my father?" He asked Impatiently not so quietly.

"Hush, lower your voice". Nnenna said looking around them before answering his question "Not good, I tried all my best to convinced him but to no avail. He insisted you should rather be preparing for the test of Kings you will compete with Obinnze should he return. As it stands now I am really out of ideas Ebubedike". Speaking softly Nnenna told her son her discussion she had with his father.

"Not me, I am not out of ideas yet. It's either I am the King or no one will. I will personally kill Obinnze". Ebubedike said threatening.

"I believe you can do that my son, my only fear is if you can be able to win the test of the Kings".

"You worry too much mother, be rest assured I will pass it". Ebubedike said assuring his mother but his mind were far away. The king has to die somehow.

 **

Obinnze walked into the warm embrace of his father, both were smiling. When he suddenly returned he quickly took excuse from his father and rushed to take his bath and have a change of clothes. This time around, Obinnze loosened his dada (Dreadlocks) and Nze accompanied him to the Palace.

"If I tell you that I am not happy to see you Obinnze again then call me a liar". Omenigbo said elated as he sat down on his throne.

"Me too father, I missed everyone". Obinnze responded.

"So who is this young man with you?"

"Oh, he is Nze and also my very good friend. He gave me shelter and food for 15 years that I was banished. I decided to bring him home with me if you don't mind".

Turning to face Nze with a smile.

"I don't mind Obinnze, at least he gave you good meals because it's showing all over your body for the 15 years you've lived with him. You are welcome Nze".

 **

Ebubedike sneaked into the hut of Adamma as usual to tell her his discussion he had with his mother.

They didn't noticed the dark Shadow in the wall.

"I am back and so is Obinnze. He brought one of the Red eyes with him, killing the king now will be too risky". The Dark Shadow man said as he announced his presence before Ebubedike and Adamma late at night.

Without wasting time, he touched Ebubedike's forehead and entered back into his body.

"I have to go and sleep and hopefully I will come up with a new plan tomorrow". Ebubedike told Adamma who bowed in respect.

 "Of course my Lord".

 **

"You know the task ahead of you is a dangerous one which you must trend in caution. You have to do everything within your power to make the Grand King second son fall in love with you. When you are sure he his in love with you lure him to Oshimmiri river".

 Olaudo nodded her head.

"Oshimmiri here will accompany you to the festival of the Sword, she will be your elder sister. Remember your falling in love with Obinnze is a false one and not real". He told Olaudo.

"I am so sorry to ask this, but what are you going to do with the Prince once I lure him here?". Olaudo demanded. She did not really understand what her mission really is, faking to fall in love with the second Prince and luring him to the dreaded river, what do they hope to gain?.

"He and master are old acquaintance from the past but he stole something precious and rare from Master". Oshimmiri lied through her teeth.

"So what did he steal, I can convince him to give it to me". Olaudo told Oshimmiri.

"Hush, it's between master and him. Don't think too much Child, just do as you've been told and everything will soon be reveal to you. Master saved you and your grandmother, the least you can do for him is to repay his kindness by doing this simple task". Oshimmiri said once more.

Bowing her head, "I am sorry my Lord".

"It's okay, I would have also ask if it was reversed but nevertheless once you're in Umudike be careful of Obinnze, he practice black magic".

 "Yes my Lord". Olaudo said.

"Go and start preparing, we'll be leaving soon. The journey towards Umudike take days". Oshimmiri told her.

Bowing her head in respect, Olaudo left their presence.

Once she was off from hearing them Oshimmiri turned to face the man and told him smirking. "I told you that she will succumb eventually".
