Chapter 5
The three kings sat down facing the huge throne and discussing amongst themselves. King Omenigbo cleared his throat to gain their attention to him. Once he succeeded he gaining their attention he spoke aloud.
"I called you all here to inform the three kings that I have banished my son, Obinnze, from Umudike for 15 years. On no account I repeat myself on no account should he be allowed to stay in any of your kingdoms or territory, failure to do so will result that kingdom as an enemy".
The three kings turned to look at each other.
"But why would you banish Obinnze from Umudike at his tender age. In my own opinion, you should have locked him up in the dungeon for whatsoever crime he has committed not banish him". King Okosisi spoke out his thought.
"My banishment to him was even better instead of sentencing him to death". Omenigbo said as he stared at King Okosisi.
"Then what is the bone of contention? I mean, what was Obinnze crime if I may asked?" King Mbari demanded.
"Now you are talking. He sent one of those barbarians slave to murder him in his sleep. The slave could have succeeded if not by the intervention of one of my palace guards who heard the Prince struggling in his hut. Once the slave was tortured he confesses that Obinnze was behind it". King Omenigbo finally explained to them the reason why he had banished the second Prince.
"Well, with what he had committed if I where in your position I would have killed him and that useless barbarian slave with him". King Aku said. He was happy within him. If Obinnze is out of the way then killing the crown Prince would be very easy for him.
"How could you say such a thing, Aku? Obinnze is just a child". Mbari said as he angrily stare at the King in his left.
"I beg to disagree with you Mbari, the boy in question was caught red handed and so deserve his punishment. After all his late mother wasn't from Umudike or from any of our kingdoms, who knows...."
Omenigbo raised up his hands to silence Aku from speaking another word.
"What has his late mother got to do with what we are saying".
"I am sorry my Grand King, it was a slip of tongue". Aku apologized.
"But at the same time you should have investigate more before banishing him". Okosisi said thoughtfully to Omenigbo ignoring Aku and his foolish statement.
"But Obinnze confessed with his mouth that he was responsible for it hence my banishment to him and the said slave. I showed him mercy by not killing him and banish him rather so that he would learn from his mistakes and never repeat it again. That is what I wanted to inform the three of you. You may go". The Grand King said finalising the topic.

"Grandma I wasn't the one who told the barbarian slave to kill Ebubedike in his hut, you have to believe me". Obinnze cried as he held Adaku in her wrapper.
"Hush, don't cry Obinnze. I believe you wouldn't do such a thing. But why did you agree that you're behind the attack on Ebubedike?" Adaku asked. She knew Obinnze wouldn't do such a thing to his brother.
"Where do I go now grandma, father has informed the three kings never to let me step my feet in their kingdoms. I have no where else to go and I can't go to the dreaded Oshimmiri river you've told me about". Obinnze told her.
"I know, you have to find out where you have to stay on your own Obinnze, am afraid I can't help you in this". Adaku said pitifully at the young boy in front of her. "You know, there is a part of the story I haven't told you nor your brother". Adaku added.
Cleaning up his eyes he looked at Adaku. "What story again?".
"There are two part leading towards Oshimmiri. The one on the right leads to the dreaded Oshimmiri River and the one on the left leads to...no where. Well when Amadioha and Ogbunabali met, they fought for the sword. The sword broke into two and fell off from Amadioha hands. The half fell off at the left road and the other one landed here, follow that part, maybe you might be the one to find the other half of OlaUdo". Adaku told him.
"But, I thought you said you don't know what happened when Amadioha clashed with the other god". Obinnze said confusingly.
"I lied, Nga told me".
"...Nga? I thought you don't like that woman, you called her a witch".
"Yes Obinnze, she is a witch. How would she know Amadioha and OOgbunabali fought and yes she was the one who told me the story about the sword when I was young. And as I grew she still remained that old lady, I gave birth to your father she was still like that. If she isn't into witchcraft then how come she didn't die all those years. I was told she existed before I was born, I am still surprised at her death". Adaku said, admitting to the fact Nga told her the history of the sword.
"I think you have to make your choice on which road you will take. Oshimmiri can't be cross and the other one leads to no where, the choice is yours to make son".

Much later in the evening Obinnze and the wounded guards where escorted out of Umudike border. The barbarian was still weak but managed to keep up with the Prince. The only thing that they allowed the young Prince carry was the water container and a little bag with fruits.
"My Prince this is where we part ways. May the gods be with you". One of the guards with him said and motion for the others to go back.
Soon Obinnze was left with slave.
"Thank you". The slave whispered with sincerity as he sat on the floor, resting.
Obinnze looked briefly at him and nodded his head.
"We have to keep going by my calculations we will soon be approaching midnight. These part are dangerous full with wild animals". Obinnze told the man on the floor.
"He forced me into doing it. Why did you help me, you could have denied the allegations placed on you Prince Obinnze". The slave said to him.
"I know, but your eyes told me otherwise". Obinnze said as he helped the man slowly to his feet. "I knew you where forced to lie against me, didn't know why my step mother and my step brother would plan such a dangerous thing to get me out of Umudike. What if Ebubedike died in the process". Obinnze said as they continued their journey.
"You don't know what you've done, but for your kindness I will repay you. You must know something Obinnze, Ebubedike didn't...." the slave started to say but was cut off when he suddenly grab hold of his throat, chocking himself to death.
Before Obinnze's eyes the slave man gave up the ghost. He saw a dark pitch smoky form dispatching out from the now dead slave.
"Who are you and what what have you done to him?" Obinnze asked fearfully as he stare at the smoky form taking a well calculated step back.
'He can see me? But that's not possible'.
"Yes I can see you, what did you do to my friend?" Obinnze still asked again. His eyes grew wide in fear when the smoky figure finally came out from the body of the slave, it was enormous in size and growled at him.
'Then if you can see and hear me your death will be more pleasurable to me. I am only after your heart little boy' the smoky voice said to Obinnze as it stood, towering over him. It's sharp razor teeth showing and his hands were sharp as talons.
'Run'
A faint voice whispered in his ears and without a word Obinnze ran not without glancing at the slave to see a Skelton in it's place.

Queen Nnenna was elated once she entered her son room. She had send the guards guarding Ebubedike's room on an errand so they won't hear their discussion.
"You did well Ebubedike, I never knew that this would be your plan. You've make me a proud mother". Queen Nnenna rapturous told her son as he sat down on his bamboo bed, he was just waking up.
"But I thought it was you who told the slave to do it". Ebubedike said in surprise.
The smile on Nnenna's face quickly faded.
"You mean you weren't the one who had ordered the slave to.... you know?"
"No mother I didn't. I only told you I have a plan to let you get off my back. You of all People should have know that I would never kill Obinnze, not in this life or my next life. If he wants the throne then we have to fight like man".
"Hold on a minute, were you not the one who stood next to me with your injuries telling your father it was Obinnze who did it, even the slave admitted to it". Queen Nnenna said looking at her son as if he has grow three heads.
"No, it wasn't me. As far as I am concern I have been in this bamboo bed, sleeping when the wound has being treated". Ebubedike told his mother looking at her strangely.
"If you're here then who was with me at the Palace? I am not hallucinating Ebubedike, you were there with me, we even shook hands when the king banished Obinnze from Umudike and the three kingdoms. You can't tell me I high five a spirit". Queen Nnenna whispered.
"I am telling you I am not the one, if I was there...... Wait, you said Obinnze has been banished? For what?" Ebubedike demanded. "No, I have to speak with father at once". He added.
"It's already too late, Obinnze has left the kingdom few hours ago". Queen Nnenna told him. Her mind racing. "Are you sure you're not the one with me?"
"If I was there mother, Obinnze wouldn't have being banish".

"You did a great job my dear, I wonder when your facade will soon be revealed". A voice said as a shadow appeared in Adamma's hut. Adamma quickly bowed her head to the head as she faced the shadow.
