Chapter 9
"Ob..Obinze is that really you?" Omenigbo asked as he was still awe at his dada (Dreadlocks). Ike bowed his head and left.
"Who else if not Obinnze that is standing before you. It is really me", he told his father.
Without uttering a word, Omenigbo walked over to him and threw his now old arms around Obinnze and pull him up for a hug. Obinnze tall form hovering over him as Omenigbo breathed in his scent.
Obinnze didn't hesitated in wrapping his arms round his father fragile figure.
After a while Omenigbo shifted back to look at Obinnze tall frame and lifted his hand to touch his long dada (Dreadlocks).
"How where you able to make your dada grow to be this long?" Omenigbo suddenly asked as he felt the texture of his dada (Dreadlocks).
"Before you answer that you should have a sit, you can't be acting as a stranger in your own father house, sit and tell me how you were able to make your dada longer than most of the older generations of this family". Omenigbo said.
Laughing softly he sat down and watches as his father sat down on the throne.
"Don't know, I just find it growing everyday for the past 15 years until it reaches this length. Let's forget about my dada, how is my brother Ebubedike?" Obinnze asked changing the topic.
"He's fine Obinnze. He left the palace few minutes before your arrival, though I must confess he has changed a lot over the years. He isn't the same Ebubedike you once knew". Omenigbo told him.
Laughing again that made Omenigbo wondered what was so funny in what he had said.
"Everyone will have to change at some point in life father, sometimes for good and sometimes for bad, it all depends. That is how life rotates".
"Good words of wisdom Obinnze". Omenigbo said. "Ike!!" He shouted and Ike came running in immediately.
"Yes My Lord". Ike answered bowing his head once again.
"The night will soon begin eating it's supper, take my second son to his chambers prepared already for him". Omenigbo said.
"Yes My Lord". Ike reply.
Turning to face his son, he smiled at him. "We shall discuss more tomorrow, this my old flesh needs some sleep. Ike will take you to your hut". Omenigbo told his son.
Obinnze stood up and bowed his head in respect, he turned to follow Ike but stop when a thought came across his mind. He turned to face his father once again.
"Father, why is grandmother not here with you, or didn't she know of my coming? I was expecting her to be the first person I would see". Obinnze said as he wondered within him why Adaku hasn't come out to welcome him.
"Oh, my mother passed away two years ago. Don't think too much Obinnze, it was her time". Omenigbo finally replied as he was contemplating whether he should tell him or not but finally he decided to tell him.
Concealing his shock he nodded his head and left with Ike.

"Haven't you heard of his return yet my Lord?" Adamma asked Ebubedike as he visited her hut late at night.
"I heard but that is none of my business, I shall kill him to ascend the throne soon". Ebubedike answered her as he sat down on her bamboo bed.
"So you saw his dada?"
"I did but again that is not my business. I am the first son of my father and the crown Prince of the three kingdoms, of course my father knows I will be the next Grand King".
"If you say so my Lord".
"Remember we are to act accordingly to my plans, now that Obinnze is here we have to be very careful. He has been with the Red eyes for good 15 years, he might look so good and harmless to all but in my eyes he is full of evil". The dark Shadow in Ebubedike spoke this time.
"Of course my Lord". Adamma said bowing her head in respect.
"Keep your eyes and ears on Obinnze, he is not the same Obinnze you know". He dark Shadow man told the high priestess.
"Yes my lord, I shall do as you've told me". Adamma answered.
"Obinnze might look tougher but I know his weakness".
"And what can that be my Lord?". Adamma asked in wonder.
"His soft heart, and that is what I will use against him using the body I dwell".
"Will Ebubedike agree to this, my Lord?" Adamma asked.
"Of course I will". Ebubedike answered this time around, seeing the surprised look on Adamma's face he continued. "How will I not know what he has been telling you all these years or have you forgotten we now share the same body. Seeing Obinnze Dada would make my father have a change of heart, I don't want to take that chances". Ebubedike said.
Adamma silently breathed a sigh of relief as she knew within her that her Lord made Ebubedike hear their plan to gain his trust more.
She smiled, holding her hands together and bowed her head. "Of course my Lord".

Early the next morning Obinnze woke up, took his bath and change into one of his clothes. Packing his dada into a ponytail and slowly roll it into doughnut, he was set for the day.
He opened the door of his hut, stepping out from his chambers to see Ike waiting for him.
"Good Morning my Prince". Ike greeted as he bowed.
"Morning Ike, how was your night?" Obinnze deep baritone voice asked Ike as he began moving towards a direction.
Surprised at his question, no one has ever asked him such question. Ike bowed again and answered. "My night was fine my Prince".
"That's good to hear oh and by the way my name is Obinnze, I don't like being refer to as Prince". Obinnze said as he finally arrived at his destination. "Good Morning to you mama and to you Ebubedike". He greeted queen Nnenna and Ebubedike who were sitting down at the frontage of Nnenna's hut.
Answering with her nose to his greetings, Nnenna went back to her discussion with her son.
"Ebubedike won't you at least answer my greetings or are we quarreling?"
"Why would I answer your greetings when you didn't say it the right way". Standing up to his full height, he smirked. "The next time you want to greet me murderer, you should add King instead of my name. Show some respect to the future Grand King". With that he left.
Nnenna stood up from her sit and went inside her hut without a word to Obinnze.
"Wow, some welcoming". Obinnze said sarcastic, "At least I did try to greet them".
He left to meet his father with Ike trailing behind him.

Defeating the beast assign to fight her wasn't that easy as she had expected.
It took Olaudo two hellish days for her to defeat the beast.
Clapping her hands at Olaudo Victory, Oshimmiri ordered Ebuka to get food and water quickly for Olaudo.
After eating to her satisfaction Oshimmiri told her to get wash and meet her at their usual place.
She quickly took her bath and went to meet her grandmother to tell her about her victory but her grandmother beat her to it.
"I heard you were able to defeat the beast" Ama said beamed with smile as Olaudo entered the hut she and her grandmother stay.
Nodding her head, Olaudo smiled. "Yes I did, who told you?"
"Who else if not Ebuka, you know his mouth is like a parrot and also, you and I know he has a crush on you, when are you going to give him an answer?". Ama asked
Rolling her eyes, Olaudo answered. "I have always told you grandma that I don't have any feelings for him or anyone at all. I have been trained all my life never to have feelings, apart from you and Oshimmiri, no one will have my heart and you know it".
"A time will come when you will fall hopelessly in love and you will regret every word you utter here. It all happen to everyone at some point in their lives Olaudo, there is something called love and I hope Chuckwuolisa finds you the one who will make you regret your words".
"Such people doesn't exist grandma in my book, anyway I came to inform you about the beast I killed, but since you know about it already I guess I should go and meet Oshimmiri".
"Okay, but bear it in mind that is either Love find you or you find Love".
Before Ama would end her words Olaudo has left the hut.

"I am here". Olaudo said as she went to meet Oshimmiri.
"Defeating the Night beast has now given you the privilege to meet the one who is my master". Oshimmri told her.
"I have been Waiting for these words all my life". Olaudo replied enthusiastically at Oshimmiri.
"Very good then, close your eyes".
Moving closer to her, Oshimmiri placed her hand over the close eye lids of Olaudo.
Removing her hand, "Open your eyes Olaudo". Oshimmiri commanded.
Olaudo opened her eyes, she gasped out loud as she saw a strange looking handsome muscular man in front of them. Although he looks handsome but his eyes says otherwise.
Oshimmiri bowed down to him and gesture to Olaudo to follow suit.
"Killing one of my pets has made me realize how strong you are but nevertheless you still have more training to undergo. It took you two days for you to kill the beast that Oshimmiri can kill within an hour". The man said.
"I am sorry My Lord, it will never happen again". Olaudo said.
"Of course it will never happen again because I am personally training you for the greater things you will do for me in the nearest future. I will train you for two years to be strong like your teacher, Oshimmiri. After two years you will be going to Umudike for a great mission". With that the man vanished into thin air.
"Who was that? Is he your master? What mission was he talking about?" Olaudo immediately jumped into question as soon as the man disappeared.
"Come with me, you have to start preparing". Oshimmiri said, ignoring her questions.

"What is it?" Obinnze asked lowly as he entered his hut to see, Nze (the name of the one who had saved him that night 15 years ago) already sited in his bamboo bed.
"Something seem to be amiss somewhere though I don't know what it is master, but I know something bad wants to happen and I came here to prepare your mind and heart against it". Nze responded.
"Hmm, did Nin saw something again?" Obinnze asked.
"Yes and that is Why I came here. She said you should meditate and If you are able to communicate with the late Nga then you're safe. Nga wants to tell you something according to Nin master".
"Okay, thank you Nze".
***
"Father, I need to go away for some days. I need to meditate and clear my mind off some things". Obinnze told his father.
"Okay son, when should I be expecting your return?" Grand king Omenigbo asked.
Smiling at his father.
"I will be back as soon as I have gotten what I seek for father". Obinnze responded.
"Okay then son but what do you seek that we don't have around this kingdom?"
"Nothing father, I shall be back before you know it". Obinnze said and brought out a black bead which he put on Omenigbo wrist. "My gift to you father, and please on no account should you remove this bead". Obinnze said jokingly.
***
Obinnze went to where Adaku had once told him to go 15 years ago, the road that leads to nowhere.
He walked further and further into the part before he saw the spot Nze had prepared for him already.
Obinnze sat down crossing his legs, closing his eyes, blocking his surroundings, he began meditating.
Nze appeared and sat down with Obinnze, they became invisible to the world.

For two years Olaudo trained with the man who had saved her as a child.
The days passes by as Obinnze meditate, trying to communicate with Nga in the spirit realm.
Nze feed Obinnze body with Omen (what the Red eyes eat that sustain their hunger for some days).
