 Chapter 8

 15 Years Later.

"Grand ma, I over heard you and aunty discussing late last night- Is not that I was eavesdropping at your conversation, I happened to walk pass there but couldn't hear a single word- what were you and aunty discussing?". She whispered the last part as she sat down beside the old lady.

Ama laughed out to her heart content as she stare at the beautiful young lady beside her.

"Olaudo there are things which I cannot tell you. If you want to really know what we are discussing then go and ask your aunty". Ama answered her granddaughter just as quietly as Olaudo had asked her.

Since that fateful night Oshimmiri had saved them and had brought them over across to a strange place for her and little Olaudo to live, she hasn't aged one bit at all.

She had watched throughout the years as Olaudo grew into a fine beautiful lady. Seeing Olaudo blossom to the age of 15 was a blessing to her. She had prayed day and night for the gods to bless Oshimmiri for saving them that night when she had lost all hope if not, who would have thought her granddaughter would be this beautiful 15 years down the lane.

She had also watched as they had trained Olaudo that weapons now answered to her calls. Oshimmiri had personally seen to her training all throughout the years.

She then decided to ask Oshimmiri if she would permit Olaudo to visit Umudike or any of the three kingdoms to interact with people. The only people living across the side they are were, Ama, Oshimmiri, Obinna, Ebuka and Olaudo not including the one whom Oshimmiri had always spoken about, the one who had sent them that night to save Ama and the little child.

But Oshimmiri remained unwavering and stood to her ground that Olaudo time to visit Umudike or any kingdoms hasn't come yet.

"Then when will that be Oshimmiri? The girl has been bugging me to take her across to the other side, why won't you allow me to do that?". Ama had questioned her.

"The one who she is yet to meet hasn't given an approval yet until he does, she can't go to the other side and that's final". Oshimmiri had rigidly replied her.

Clearing off her thought Ama sigh as she stare at her granddaughter, thanking the gods Olaudo didn't hear any of their conversation last night.

"Every time you say that and when I go and meet her she still repeats the same statement over and over again. I just feel like I am in a cage at times grand ma". Olaudo said as sadness plastered on her elegant face. Ama took hold of her hand and held it between her torn worn out hands.

"I feel the same way too child, I feel the same way". Ama said to her softly. "But what can we do, they save us from danger, they didn't kill you nor I, they gave us shelter and food, trained you and waned you till now. We just have to follow her orders till the 'One' allow us to cross over".

Nodding her head, the sadness on her face disappeared as a yawn escaped her mouth.

"I think I need a nap". Standing up to her feet and pecking the old lady's forehead in a tender way. "See you later old woman". She said and ran away as swiftly as she can, laughing all the way to her hut. She could still hear her grandmother's voice shouting 'I am not old young lady'.

 ***

"We've trained the child to your taste. She has defeated Ebuka and Obinna in a combat and had passed all the test set out for her My Lord". Oshimmiri said kneeling before an unknown man.

"Hmmm, I see". The unknown man mused to himself. "Then take her to one of my pets- take her to the beast- once she defeat the beast the next training starts". He added.

Oshimmiri gasped out in surprise and shocked. "But my Lord, she cannot defeat the beast, no one has ever defeated your pet- any of the beast- before. She's just a little child". Oshimmiri said in sudden fear for Olaudo.

"A few minutes ago you where telling me how she had passed all the test and trainings and now you you are not so sure anymore?".

"No my Lord. I will inform her about the new test". Oshimmiri responded.

"Very good Oshimmiri. I have worked so hard for this and I know you wouldn't want to foiled with my plans I have patiently waited for so many years". The unknown man said to Oshimmiri.

"Of course not my Lord, I wouldn't dare do that". Oshimmiri replied.

"Good, tell her I will soon see her but if she wants to ever get across to the other side, then she would have to defeat one of the beast. I need to know the level of her strengths and her limits before moving to my next plan".

"Yes my Lord, I shall do as you have instructed". Oshimmiri said and the unknown man nodded his head in approval.

"Very well then, I shall await for the good news... hopefully". He said and vanished into thin air.

Oshimmiri stood up from where she knelt and went quickly to look for Olaudo to fill her about the latest development.

 ***

Olaudo was dreaming the same dream again.

She hasn't told anyone about the frequent dreams she has been having, not even her grandmother knows.

She has been trying to understand what the dream meant but couldn't.

The dream had started 3 years ago after she had defeated Obinna in a fighting wrestling.

In the dream she saw the face of a young woman trying to tell her something but no matter how this woman shout Olaudo couldn't hear whatsoever she wanted to say. Every time she saw the woman, it always seems something was preventing them from reaching out to each other.

Olaudo tried reading the woman lips each time she saw the woman but couldn't.

 But today's dream was different.

She saw herself by the side of a river with the woman.

The woman walked up close to her and touched her bare shoulder for the first time.

"Olaudo beware of the wolves in sheep clothes".

Before Olaudo would persuade the woman to explain what she meant, she disappeared.

Olaudo woke up with a start and kicked away whosoever that was looming over her with one of her legs.

"You kick like a demon". A voice grunted out in pains.

Olaudo opened her eyes and saw Obinna on the ground in pains.

"What were you trying to do?" Olaudo demanded as she stood up from her bamboo bed.

Still on the ground. "Oshimmiri asked me to call you". Obinna replied.

Without a single word Olaudo left him in her hut and went to answer Oshimmiri. She knew where Oshimmiri would be and went off that direction.

Her mind couldn't understand what the strange woman had meant.

Was that what she has been trying to tell me for so long?

 Olaudo wondered to herself.

"Olaudo, I am right here". Oshimmiri voice cut her off from her thought.

Olaudo quickly walked over to where Oshimmiri stood.

 "Obinna told me I should..."

 Interrupting her.

"Yes I did. My master wants to test your abilities to see how strong you are. If you can defeat one of his beast he would allow you to go to the other side of the River". Oshimmiri told her.

"Okay, when can I start". Olaudo said as she beamed with happiness the dream suddenly forgotten.

"Whenever you're ready". Was Oshimmiri replied.

"Then I am ready". Olaudo responded.

"Good, I was hoping you would say that, follow me".

 ***

It was almost dusk when the king and his son were discussing.

"Ebubedike your brother would soon come home after so many years". The Grand King told his son.

He has requested for the presence of Ebubedike to talk to him.

"And how is that my business father?" Ebubedike asked.

"It is your business Ebubedike. For the past fifteen years things has change so has you. When Obinnze comes back I don't want to hear any.."

"I know what you are about to say father. But I can't promise you that there will be peace". Ebubedike cut him off from proceeding.

"What has gotten over you Ebubedike?. Since the messenger whom Obinnze had sent 2 weeks ago had told us about my second son forth coming you have drastically change. Are you not happy to see your brother whom you haven't seen for the past 15 years?".

Ebubedike laughed out loud as Omeigbo stared at him strangely.

"Happy for someone who tried to murder me in my sleep a few years ago, never". Ebubedike replied nonchalantly.

Omenigbo was rendered speechless when he heard those words.

"Weren't you the one who had said I did a mistake by banishing your brother for good 15 years? Why the sudden change of attitude Ebubedike?". Grand King Omenigbo asked as he wondered. He stared at his son as if he had grow two heads.

"In all honesty father, you shouldn't have banished Obinnze rather you should have had him killed or better still banished him forever". Ebubedike replied.

"Is it really you that is talking?" Omenigbo asked to be sure.

Looking around him. "Apart from me and you there is no other person in here. Anyway I have heard what you said, I will try to keep to my lane". He said then laughed humorously. "But you know I can't. I will take my leave".

He bowed and left the palace as his father stared at him.

Omenigbo has always know something was wrong with his son ever since Obinnze left. Ebubedike had changed from a happy and cheerful Prince to a wicked and evil Prince over night.

Adaku and Nnenna had always wondered where Ebubedike has gotten his ill acts from.

Ebubedike was a very handsome young man. He had tousled dark dada, which was thick and lustrous and short. His face was strong and defined, his features molded from granite. A prominent jaw curved gracefully around and the strength of his neck showed in the twining cords of muscle that shaped his entire body; strong arms, bold thighs and calves, a firm chest and abdomen. He was an Adonis among the other men. Even with his evil acts, ladies swoon whenever they saw him. He had almost slept with all the ladies in Umudike and the three kingdoms.

It was said only those who where born to rule the three Kingdoms as the Grand King would grow dada.

Grand King Omenigbo has his. His dada was short but suited him.

When he saw Ebubedike dreadlocks some years ago he smiled and nodded his head, Ebubedike might be the Grand King after all. But his character was....

"Your majesty". A guard said in happiness as he bowed down his head in respect bringing the King out from his thought.

 "Yes Ike, what is it?"

"Obinnze has arrived, he is back". Ike answered elated.

"Obinnze my son, h...he is ba..back?"

 "Yes your majesty". Ike answered.

"Bring him in, Now". Omenigbo almost shouted at Ike who ran quickly to bring Obinnze.

Omenigbo stood up from his throne as he stare at the young man behind Ike. It wasn't his over handsomeness that caught Omenigbo's attention, but his dada.

Unlike Ebubedike's short dada, Obinnze dreadlocks were extremely long, almost reaching his knees.
